Water Demand in Maize Is Projected to Decrease under Changing Climate in India

چکیده
Crop stage-specific information on the impacts of projected climate change crop and irrigation water requirements are essential for improving productivity. This study investigated possible implications phenology, effective rainfall (Peff), (CWR) (IWR) maize in eight locations India. CWR, Peff IWR were estimated seven stages viz., emergence, 5th leaf stage, tasseling, silking, milking, dough maturity during baseline (1980–2009) near-century (2022–39) using data derived from a subset 29 general circulation models. The results indicated that mean seasonal maximum temperature, minimum temperature to increase all locations. Hence, total duration (3–7 days), CWR (8–69 mm) (1–54 decrease. could identify specific which greatest reduction duration, would occur. Such will be immense help farmers varietal improvement programs regions near future.

Growing sensitivity of maize to water scarcity under climate change
Climate change can reduce crop yields and thereby threaten food security. The current measures used to adapt to climate change involve avoiding crops yield decrease, however, the limitations of such measures due to water and other resources scarcity have not been well understood. Here, we quantify how the sensitivity of maize to water availability has increased because of the shift toward longe...
متن کاملWater Resources in India under Changed Climate Scenario
The present study is an attempt to assess the impacts of climate change on water resources of the river basins of India which have immense importance in domestic, industrial agricultural and hydropower scenario. A distributed hydrological model developed from HEC-HMS was used on the Indian river basins using the projected daily precipitation and temperature data for the continuous daily range f...
متن کاملRainfall-triggered slope instabilities under a changing climate: comparative study using historical and projected precipitation extremes
This study aims to quantitatively assess the impact of extreme precipitation events under current and future climate scenarios on landslides. Rainfall-triggered landslides are analyzed primarily using extreme precipitation estimates, derived using the so-called stationary assumption (i.e., statistics of extreme events will not vary significantly over a long period of time). However, extreme pre...
متن کاملProjected change in global fisheries revenues under climate change
Previous studies highlight the winners and losers in fisheries under climate change based on shifts in biomass, species composition and potential catches. Understanding how climate change is likely to alter the fisheries revenues of maritime countries is a crucial next step towards the development of effective socio-economic policy and food sustainability strategies to mitigate and adapt to cli...
متن کاملSpatio-Temporal Dynamics of Maize Yield Water Constraints under Climate Change in Spain
Many studies have analyzed the impact of climate change on crop productivity, but comparing the performance of water management systems has rarely been explored. Because water supply and crop demand in agro-systems may be affected by global climate change in shaping the spatial patterns of agricultural production, we should evaluate how and where irrigation practices are effective in mitigating...
